Hansol Choi is a composer, percussionist, and educator, based in Queens, New York. He passionately believes music is a powerful resource, perceiving it as a means of encapsulating the rich depth of human existence by reflecting theological, psychological, and emotional elements of personhood.

I am happy to announce that I was selected as a composition fellow for the National Orchestral Institute+Festival of 2024. I will be writing a new work for the NOI+F’s Sinfonietta!

My orchestral work "3°(Sahm-doh/삼도) for orchestra was selected by the American Composers Orchestra’s Earshot Reading! It will be read, performed, and workshopped with the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music’s Orchestra, conducted by Jeff Meyer.

My orchestral work "3°(Sahm-doh/삼도) for orchestra will premiered by The University of Michigan’s University Symphony Orchestra in December of 2023! Selected and conducted by Yeo Ryeong Ahn as her final doctoral research, we aim to apply performance and rhythmic elements from 국악/Gu-Gak (Traditional Korean Music).

My orchestral work [OUT]cry for Symphony Orchestra has been selected by the Great Falls Symphony Orchestra’s Second Performance Project. It will be performed for their 23-24 concert season!

My newly premiered piece, N'ur'tu[Re ] 'Acarono Iterum' for Violoncello & Piano written for Grammy nominated Cellist Dave Eggar and Pianist Yi-Fei Xu, will be getting a European Premiere at the Mostly Modern Festival Netherlands. Performance by Dave Eggar and Pianist Paolo Gorini.

I have recently been awarded a commission from the notable Talujon Percussion Quartet to be premiered in their 2023-2024 concert season.

My newly composed piece for Wind Ensemble, commissioned by Phonon Winds (Taiwan), will be premiered in Taiwan (Dates TBD).
